About

I am a senior lecturer in the Discipline of Mental Health and Learning Disability Nursing and Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) Nursing (Online) programme. I am a registered Mental Health Nurse and prior to working at the University of Derby, I was working as a Practice Learning Lead in a local NHS Trust. My clinical experience is in a variety of adult community mental health teams including early intervention in Psychosis and primary care teams.

Teaching responsibilities

I am Programme Lead for the Bsc (Hons) Nursing (Online) programme. I support teaching, learning and assessment across the programme. I am also involved in the Practice Assessment 3 and Independent Study modules for the BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing programme. 

I have previous experience of programme leading the BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing programme for both self-funding and Apprenticeship routes as well as curriculum development.

Professional interests

My interests include leadership, quality improvement, mental health assessment and community mental healthcare. I am passionate about training our future workforce to provide high-quality care to the people who access health and social care services.

Research interests

My current research is exploring the impact of attending Schwartz Rounds on Nursing Students' Leadership and management skills.
