About

I'm a civic champion, supporting the university to achieve and exceed its civic goals as part of its Civic University Agreement.

As a civic university, we are involved in a wide range of projects and initiatives that are making a real difference to local communities and individuals – opening doors to opportunities, raising aspirations and helping to transform lives.

The five goals set out within the Civic University Agreement have been developed in direct response to both the challenges and opportunities facing Derby, Derbyshire and the communities within it. They are designed to make a long-lasting positive impact on the city and county, bringing benefits to many.

When I joined the university in 2022, I worked within the University’s Business School as a Business Development Manager, helping SMEs across our region to access the funded support and training available to them via the University.

Prior to that, I spent five years working at QUAD, a National Portfolio Organisation in Derby developing a European-funded project (part of a 5 million pound regional investment) aimed at offering sector-specific support to the Creative Industries.

My background is in design, marketing and business development with a focus on the leisure and tourism industries. With more than twenty-five years of experience, I love to host, speak and organise events.

I'm also the host and organiser of CreativeMornings/Derby. This is a free breakfast lecture series for the creative community - part of a global community and the world's largest face-to-face creative network. We meet once a month to eat breakfast, drink coffee and listen to a talk by someone marvellous.
