About

As an Associate Lecturer, I have the privilege of undertaking a variety of roles with the Institute of Education.  My responsibilities include teaching on the International Postgraduate Certificate in Education (iPGCE), working as an Assessor on the Assessment Only (AO) route to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and supporting the ITE / ITT range of courses provided by the University.

I have over 25 years of experience in the education sector, the majority of which was in primary schools.  During this time, I held a number of teaching posts as well as leadership roles such as SENCo, Deputy Headteacher and Headteacher.

Teaching responsibilities

I teach on the iPGCE course, but also act as Assessor on the Assessment Only route to QTS, and support ITE and ITE programmes.

Professional interests

I am interested in the broad range of research relating to pedagogical and curricular aspects of education, to enable teachers, students and pupils at all stages to become lifelong learners.

Additional interests and activities

In addition to my work as an Associate Lecturer, I have a range of other responsibilities and interests, which complement each other and help me to maintain a broad understanding of the wider educational landscape. These include:

I am also a foster parent for children and young people. This incredibly rewarding and challenging role exemplifies my passion for supporting children and young people who have experienced significant early life trauma.

I also have an interest in issues relating to the experiences of LGBTQ+ people in education.
