About

I am an economist passionate about teaching and research. Prior to joining the University of Derby, I taught at De Montfort University and Loughborough University. My role within the College of Business, Law and Social Sciences at the University of Derby spans the full range of academic activities, from teaching at all levels to leading economics and finance modules. I currently lead the Introductory Microeconomics module and Current Debates in Applied Economic Theory.

As a Senior Lecturer, I believe in providing students with a unique and invaluable learning experience which is founded on principles of respect, integrity, commitment and discipline. I also believe in providing a learning environment where students can develop academically and personally as they progress through their study.

Research interests

My research interests are in the areas of development economics, conflicts, economic growth and market efficiency. My key area of interest is looking at the dynamics of conflict and its relationship with poverty, market inefficiency and inequality in developing countries. Aside from producing research outputs for academic purposes, my goal is for these outputs to impact policy-making decisions and help countries develop better strategies in achieving economic growth and development.
