About

I am a Senior Lecturer within the Public Health team at the School of Health and Social Care at the University of Derby.

My career spans academia, industry, and consulting, with prior roles at universities including Teesside, Salford, Wolverhampton, Hertfordshire, and the University of Indonesia, as well as roles in government affairs, market access, and strategy consulting for healthcare and business consulting companies.

Teaching responsibilities

I develop and deliver postgraduate modules in Epidemiology, Statistics, Research Methodology and Health Economics, both for classroom and online deliveries through UDOL. I am also involved in the delivery of other relevant modules within the College.

Research interests

My research focuses on global public health epidemiology, health economics, health systems, and access to pharmaceutical products.

2025: Invited to speak in a number of conferences hold by Swami Rama Himalayan University (India), Apeejay School of Management(India), University of Jember (Indonesia), and Nahdlatul Ulama Sunan Giri University (Indonesia)

 

Experience in industry

I spent almost 4 years with one of the largest global Pharmaceutical Companies in the area of Government Affairs, Market Access and Communications for their Indonesian operations. Earlier in my career, I also worked for a global consulting firm specialising in the area of Strategy and Planning.

International experience

I have been involved in many teaching, research and consulting projects with various partners in Indonesia.  I have been asked to deliver visiting lectures for the University of North Sumatera, University of Indonesia, Indonesia Veteran University, Hasanuddin University, Diponegoro University, Aisyiyah University, and several others.

While working for one of the largest global pharmaceutical companies, I was involved global and regional issues in pharmaceutical pricing, access, and policies that affect access to medicines to patients.  

I have also worked for a consulting project supporting the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In the media

I have been quoted in global media around the response to COVID-19 for example by the New York Times, Bloomberg, and Reuters. I have also been interviewed by numerous online media including TV appearances.
