About

Hello, my name is Catherine, but everyone calls me Cate. I am a mother to two children, Sam and Molly.

Alongside being a mother, I am working towards earning a PhD. I graduated with a first in Psychology in 2017 and completed a masters in research in 2019. Psychology is my passion and I am constantly seeking out new information in this field at any given opportunity. I feel like psychology applies to absolutely every single realm of a person’s life and that is fascinating to me. There are not many other subjects which can be applied across such a broad spectrum.

I am a Postgraduate Research Student and Associate Lecturer in Psychology. I am also the PGR Chair. I use qualitative research methods to explore gender, with a specific focus on power relations and sexuality. The research is multidisciplinary (Psychology and Media) and considers how gender and power are represented by the media, and speaking with women about their lived experience of gender and power in relation to power play with BDSM.
