I am a researcher and business consultant with a strong background in sustainable operations, sustainable supply chains and business consulting. I hold a PhD in Sustainable Business Operations from the University of Derby and have published papers related to sustainable business operations, business support in the SME context and innovation. I am a Researcher in Digital Innovation for Productivity and Sustainability at the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) Project at the University of Derby leading and delivering research and business research activities around engineering for sustainability and net zero to SMEs in the city of Derby. Currently, I am working on topics related to Industry 4.0, Digitalisation, Sustainability Strategy, Circular Economy applied to supply chains and innovation applied to SMEs with a focus on waste management, energy efficiency and sustainable transport.

I am a Researcher in Digital Innovation for Productivity and Sustainability at the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) Project at the University of Derby leading and delivering research and business research activities around engineering for sustainability and net zero to SMEs in the city of Derby. Having gained proven experience in research and being a specialist in driving digital innovation for SMEs to improve productivity and environmental sustainability towards net-zero targets.

Experience in industry

From a professional perspective, I have started my career working as a Business Consultant in 2010 and since then I worked as a Business Consultant in different countries and projects, mixing consulting activities with a strong professional background in communication, organisational culture, project management and sustainable operations management. I have experience in different types of organisations, such as oil and gas, chemical, automotive, construction, and manufacturing. In 2014 I started my PhD in Sustainable Business and since 2018, I have worked on the ERDF DE-Carbonise Project and ERDF Innovate 4 Rail Project. Currently, I am a Researcher in Digital Innovation for Productivity and Sustainability at the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) Project at the University of Derby, leading and delivering research and business research activities around engineering for sustainability and net zero to SMEs in the city of Derby. 

International experience

From a personal side, besides English, I speak Portuguese, Spanish and Italian and consider myself a global citizen, adaptable and enchanted by the World's diversity. I have international practical experience in consulting, taking part in projects of sustainability, process improvement, organisational change, knowledge management, knowledge transfer and IoT (Internet of Things). I've had experiences in different types of organisations, such as oil and gas, chemical, automotive, mining, and manufacturing in Brazilian, Mexican and British companies.

As a researcher, I've taken part in an Internet of Things (IoT) project held in Nanjing, China, in 2015 and the Workshop UK&MX Sustainable Development - Exploring Energy Efficiency Opportunities through Supply Chain and Operations Innovation held in Aguascalientes, Mexico, in 2016 and the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) International Academic Collaboration for Transformational Industry and its Social and Environmental Impacts held in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2019.
