I am a lecturer in Sustainability and Environmental Management at the University of Derby. My research background is in aviation and environmental management. My PhD assessed airport engagement with environmental management and the value of future planning documents to facilitate an improvement in this area. I have taught environmental management and geography at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels for over ten years. I have also worked with organisations to improve their environmental performance.

In May 2021 I was a joint recipient of the runner-up award for “Outstanding Contribution to Sustainability” at the Union Education Awards. I was also nominated for the “Inspirational Teaching”, “Supervisor of the Year” and “Lecturer of the Year” awards.

Teaching responsibilities

As a lecturer in Sustainability and Environmental Management, I am a module lead and teach on a range of modules within the MSc Sustainability and Environmental Management programme. I also supervise postgraduate research dissertations. As an academic, I also sit on the UDOL Ethics and Research Committee.

Research interests

My current research interests include education for sustainable development, environmental management and wellbeing, and pedagogy in online learning environments.
