About

Having achieved a law degree and a Masters in criminal investigation I joined the policing team as a lecturer after completing both my undergraduate and postgraduate studies here at the University of Derby.

I have had two successful careers, firstly, with the British Army where I worked in Intelligence and, secondly, with Warwickshire Police as a Sergeant, where I worked in a number of roles, including proactive policing, Custody Sergeant and, lastly, as a Reactive Shift Sergeant. Unfortunately, my time with the police was cut short due to an injury sustained on duty.

In recent years I have produced a number of articles for Policing Insight in relation to police culture.  Recently Critical Publishing released my first textbook "Police Procedure and Evidence in the Criminal Justice System" which discusses the curriculum for policing students.

I am also a doctoral candidate and my area of research is a multi-discipline approach in relation to violence within sport namely ice hockey.
