About

I am a Senior Lecturer in Business and Management in the Business School at the University of Derby and the Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Business Management. I am passionate about social entrepreneurship and embedding sustainability in all my teaching and I am certified carbon literate. In addition to my teaching and programme leadership duties, my commitment extends beyond academics providing holistic support for personal, professional, and academic growth in my role as an Enactus University Adviser and a Personal Academic Tutor.

Teaching responsibilities

I teach on undergraduate programmes within the Derby Business School including the BA (Hons) Business Management (and its various specialist pathways), and Joint Honours programmes. My main specialist areas are Human Resource Management, Leadership and Enterprise.

Professional interests

I have a keen interest in social enterprise and I am a member of Social Enterprise UK.

Experience in industry

My recent consultancy work is labour market skills analysis to inform the development of a Technical and Vocational Education and Training Framework.

International experience

I have worked overseas in the Caribbean at the University College of the Cayman Islands as Head of the Business Studies Department and then as the Head of Continuing Education. I then moved into financial regulation working for the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority. Here I held two positions: Senior Policy and Research Officer, and Training and Development Specialist. In both roles, I was actively involved with the Cayman Islands Bankers’ Association and was a member of the Educational Sub-Committee writing and delivering bespoke education and training courses for students, public sector employees, and professionals working within the financial services industry.

At the University of Derby, I work closely with our collaborative partners in curriculum development, providing advice and guidance, the delivery of modules and building best practice into assessment and marking.

Additional interests and activities

I am passionate about enterprise education and participate in the delivery of enterprise-related workshops in local Derby secondary schools as a volunteer Enterprise Adviser. I enjoy giving back to my community and working with charitable organisations and for the period 2017-18 was the Head of Cricket Derby Foundation, the registered charity of Derby County Cricket Club, with responsibility for corporate governance and general administration.
