College Lead in Quality Enhancement

Biology and Zoology

College of Engineering and Technology, College of Life and Natural Sciences

Kedleston Road and Markeaton Street, Derby Campus

My varied academic, research, audit and quality assurance background give me a holistic approach to quality enhancement in Higher Education. I continue to teach and assess in ecology and environment, both face to face and by distance learning. My training, teaching and consultancy as an ecologist and experience as a business owner inform my role in Derby, giving that understanding of the real world and what graduates will need to be able to do.

As a CLiQE I am responsible for ensuring that programmes are developed and managed to be robust, innovative and provide an excellent learning experience, making full use of feedback from learners and external experts. Within the Centre for Academic Enhancement and Quality Assurance I also look at wider quality enhancement across the University and the sector, particuilarly in relation to assessment and the use of credit for mobility. I have recently been invited to become more involved in NUCCAT (the Northern Universities Consortium), joining the Board of Directors.
