About

I am a Lecturer in Computer Science in the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Derby. For a year (2020/21), I served at the Department of Computer Science, Seoul National University of Science and Technology (South Korea) as a postdoctoral (research) Professor. Prior to that, I worked as a research fellow at Thapar University and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). My doctorate objectives were focused on Cyber Security using techniques of Artificial Intelligence.

During my research career, I have worked on various research projects as a research scientist in the National Research Foundation project. I have also received many travel grants from reputed organisations such as the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) under the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and IEEE Computational Intelligence Society. I believe in conducting research on industry-oriented techniques such as Federated Learning, although my interests include Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Active Learning.

I have demonstrated expertise in these research domains in terms of research publications, book chapters and books. I am the author of the book, entitled, ‘Machine Learning in Cognitive IoT’ with the CRC (Taylor & Francis) publisher. As of now (March 2022), I have published more than 20 SCI journals (first author) in reputed journals such as IEEE (TII, IoT) Elsevier (FGCS, SCSI, IPM). I am actively participating in editorial services as an Associate Editor, Guest Editor, and Program Chair.

Teaching responsibilities

I am the module leader of the following modules:

In my previous roles, I have undertaken lab exercises in the subjects of basic programming languages and operating systems. I served as the module leader for the subjects, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. Overall, I can teach multiple subjects related to computer science, data analytics and cyber-security as I do my primary research work in these areas.

Research interests

I am primarily working in the areas of cyber security, and data science. My research plan is to continue the research work in these areas in the years to come. I want to develop realistic solutions in these fields in order to solve the practical problems that are being faced today (and likely to face in future). To know, check:
