Prioritisation matrix

A prioritization matrix is a tool that can help an organisation make decisions by narrowing options down through systematically comparing choices. Someone, or a group, chooses what should be assessed, defines a criteria for selection and applies weighting. According to MDH (2015), prioritization matrices:

The suggested steps are:

  1. Set a goal.
  2. Set criteria.
  3. Weigh criteria for importance.
  4. Weigh options against criteria.
  5. Compare options.
  6. Choose the best option across all criteria.

There is an example of the prioritization matrix available at: Department of Health: Prioritization Matrix.
