Wake up to hi-tech engineering support at University business breakfast

Grant funding, higher apprenticeships and access to state-of-the-art research and development facilities are just some of the exciting new opportunities businesses can find out about at a free breakfast seminar at the new University of Derby Chesterfield Campus from 8am to 10am on November 9.

Organised in association with Destination Chesterfield and Derbyshire environmental engineering leaders MSE Hiller, the breakfast is part of Made in Chesterfield, a celebration of the town’s manufacturing industry.

It is also a must for those within the engineering and manufacturing sector who want discover how working with the University can increase competitiveness, productivity and innovation.

It also offers a chance to see the facilities at the new Campus in Sheffield Road, which has received investment from partners including £3.48million from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, promoting economic growth across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

This includes materials and product testing facilities provided at the Campus by The Institute for Innovation in Sustainable Engineering (IISE), the University’s latest investment to support advanced manufacturing and engineering companies in the region by offering the type of research and development technology usually only available to big firms.

“IISE and the University, supported by industry partners, are helping to achieve cutting-edge solutions to the challenges SMEs are facing,” said Andy Dowling, University Business Engagement Manager who will be attending the event.

Funding and support from the European Regional Development Fund is contributing to the costs of equipment and support of the Innovation Centre at the Chesterfield Campus, which will support innovation and business growth as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme in the D2N2 area.
