The University of Derby is set to host Careers in Sport LIVE to encourage the next generation to embrace sport and go on to achieve greatness on October 11, 2016.

Now in its fourth year, Careers in Sport LIVE provides an in-depth analysis of the different careers available in the world of sport as well as information to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

With the summer of sport upon us, everyone is witnessing Britain’s achievements. Future greatness is yet to be found and with events such as Careers in Sport LIVE, sport enthusiasts can experience all the possibilities that a career in sport has to offer.

Harvey Grout, Founder of Careers in Sports LIVE, said: “With the health and fitness of our nation’s young people high on the agenda, the Careers in Sport LIVE events serve to encourage students to take up new sports and activities, while learning about nutrition and the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle in an informal environment.”

The day’s schedule includes seminars and masterclasses from lecturers at the University of Derby, industry experts, and professional sport related organisations, along with live demonstrations, hands-on sessions and exhibitors.

Andrew Butterworth, Lecturer in Sports and Exercise Science at the University of Derby and a speaker at the event, said: “The event will allow the next generation of sports scientists, managers and journalists to emerge as budding students start to consider their preferred career in the sporting industry.”

Andrew Butterworth will give a presentation about Performance Analysis and Coaching Science at 11:50am in the Track and Field Room.

The free event, for school and college students, has a range of sessions and interactive workshops beginning at 10am.
