I teach on both the BA (Hons) Applied Social Work and the Masters in Social Work degrees. I lead on Safeguarding Adults and have a particular interest in both the personalisation agenda and the effects of the implementation of the Care Act 2014. I am also a qualified Practice Educator (1 and 2) and support the training of practice educators via our agency partners. I have a special interest around adults with learning disabilities, substance use and the impact of being a carer.

Teaching responsibilities

I teach Safeguarding Adults at both BA and MA level. I am also the module lead for Practice Learning 2 on the BA programme.

I am a registered social worker with the HCPC and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Experience in industry

My early career was within the sales industry where I developed and managed sales teams. This included teams within the computer and brewery industries.

Since 1987 I have worked in the social care field in a range of roles, from direct support worker to managing a day centre for adults with learning disabilities.
