About

My teaching primarily focuses on mental health and research modules including supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. My research interests include self-compassion, intrinsic motivation, and cross-cultural psychology. I use both quantitative and qualitative to explore these interests.

I am currently working on intervention studies and cross-cultural studies to see the effects of those variables on mental health (e.g., self-compassion intervention for bereaved family members of cancer patients). My cross-cultural interests are aided by my language ability as I speak Japanese (native) English, Dutch and Mandarin. As a father of triplets, I am also exploring the experience of triplets' parents cross-culturally.

Teaching responsibilities

Module lead or tutor for all the research modules in the health portfolio at the Online Learning.

I also module lead or teach clinical or counselling psychology module in the psychology portfolio.
