Research interests

I am interested in project management and financial control, business decision-making and the use of incentive schemes. Another area of interest to me is the development of learning, teaching and assessment within the accounting subject area.

Experience in industry

I moved into accountancy following on from several years experience in more general business roles within the textile and clothing industry. These included management roles within design, purchasing, production, sales and marketing. After doing a post qualification as a chartered management accountant, I moved into computer audit at Rolls-Royce plc and moved onto other roles, including financial controller at two business units within the group.

As an academic, I aim to use my wide business experience to inform studies. More recently company secretary and director of a small business.

Additional interests and activities

I am committed to assisting students to develop skills as life-long learners. Of particular interest to me are those students who have not had good academic opportunities earlier in their lives.

Other interests outside of the university include equestrian pursuits - I am a keen competitor affiliated to British dressage and horse trials. Other sports i like include following football and cricket.
