Service Children's Progression (SCiP) Alliance

The International Centre for Guidance Studies worked with the Service Children's Progression (SCiP) Alliance to develop the Thriving Lives Toolkit through research conducted across several schools in England and with several stakeholder groups.

SCiP has secured additional funding to refine the toolkit in Scotland and Wales. iCeGS is once again working with SCiP to understand the contextual differences of working with Armed Forces/Service Children in Scotland and Wales, with a view to ensuring that the Toolkit can be used to maximum benefit there, too.

We have been conducting fieldwork with several different schools in Scotland and Wales, and have spoken with stakeholders from relevant third sector organisations such as The Royal Caledonian Trust. This research has included delivering a two-part conference event for schools and other interested parties, in conjunction with SCiP, RCET, Education Scotland and the Association of Directors of Education Scotland. The first of these two events introduced the work of SCiP and the Thriving Lives Toolkit. The second looked at how the principles of the Toolkit are being put into practice in Scotland.
