Associate Professor of Interdisciplinary Arts

Associate Professor Caroline Locke works as an artist and artistic researcher. Her research is attuned to natural ecologies. Finding ways to understand and respond to new geological age, she develops kinetic sculptures, large-scale immersive installations, and sound works. One focus of her research is on identifying the need for closer connection and greater understanding of nature.

Dr. Childs is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology with expertise in qualitative research methods. Her primary research interests are language and social interaction in a range of settings using Conversation Analysis and Discursive Psychology.

Cecilia is a full-time PhD scholar at the University of Derby. She wants her research to contribute to the improvements in financial systems, especially their regulation.

Celeste is a passionate marketing postgraduate research student who has a multi-disciplinary background. Her research interest lies in exploring the decline of high-street retailing and promoting the Zaltman Metaphor Elicitation Technique (ZMET).

Senior Lecturer in Marketing

Charles is the programme leader for MSc Marketing Management. He is an award-winning lecturer with a passion for inspiring students to achieve. He has research interests in discovering deep customer value through using a visual research methodology and is currently interested in exploring the future of the high street.

Associate Professor in Nursing

Charlie's specialist interest area is the impact of acquired brain injury on the family. Charlie is currently examining the potential for storytelling techniques to improve family well-being and adjustment. Charlie is also investigating the role of non-medical providers in the provision of safe effective neurosurgical care in low-and middle-income countries.

Lecturer in Sport Outdoor and Exercise Science

As a lecturer and level 6 lead in Sport Outdoor and Exercise Science, Dr Chidley leads modules on environmental exercise physiology and research methods. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has a PhD in exercise psychophysiology.

We have around 300 research-active staff at Derby and 400 doctoral students. They are investigating subjects as diverse as cybercrime, Long Covid, mental health, biomedical science, greener forms of transport, and asylum seekers' experiences. Learn more about our people and their research.
