Bill Esmond is Associate Professor, Education & Employment. His research is located at the intersection of workplace learning, vocational and higher education. His analysis of systems and practice is widely published in international journals, and he supports the research aspirations of vocational practitioners, from local projects to doctoral study.

Dr Bill Whitehead is an associate lecturer at the University of Derby. He is also an educational consultant and research project lead elsewhere. Bill has a particular interest in the organisational structures within the healthcare industry related to supporting newly qualified nurses and practice and clinical education in general.

Lecturer in Psychology

Lecturer in Psychology, Dr Boban (Bob) Simonovic, joined the University of Derby as a Lecturer in Psychology in November 2017, having previously worked as an associate lecturer (online), and as a teaching assistant on campus.

We have around 300 research-active staff at Derby and 400 doctoral students. They are investigating subjects as diverse as cybercrime, Long Covid, mental health, biomedical science, greener forms of transport, and asylum seekers' experiences. Learn more about our people and their research.
