The University of Derby is set to host ‘Marketing 2020’ for the second year running, led by industry experts focusing on digital marketing.

Marketing 2020 will take place on Thursday, April 21 at the University’s Kedleston Road site. The annual programme combines the latest academic, practitioner and best practice advice, looking at emerging developments in the marketing profession.

Hosted by Derby Business School and sponsored by local award-winning creative digital agency Greendog Media, the event will be explore the latest trends and insights in digital marketing, including mobile engagement and how mobile phones are used in digital marketing for staff and customers.

Speakers at Marketing 2020 will include:

  • Beth Maher, Marketing, Communications and Engagement Officer at Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – talking about the digital impact of the ITV documentary 'Superhospital'.
  • Sharon Stevens-Cash, Director, Gravity Digital
  • Adam Civval, Digital Director, Greendog Media

The event will be chaired by Annemarie Hanlon, Lecturer in Marketing and Operations at the University of Derby and Philippa Bowen from the Business Ignition Group.

Annmarie Hanlon said: “Marketing 2020 looks at the digital marketing machine and how agencies and real businesses are working with this fast changing environment. We have reached a time where digital marketing is a game-changer for many businesses, yet few understand how it works in practice.

“This event brings together speakers from leading agencies as well as an insight into the 24/7 always-on Superhospital. As Derby develops its reputation as a digital hotspot, it's great for businesses to stay ahead and discover real insights.

“Students attending Marketing2020 will gain first-hand knowledge of how agencies apply marketing theory and what works in practice and is essential for those developing digital plans and with an interest in online PR.”

Sharon Stevens-Cash, Director at Gravity Digital, based in Derby, added: “It’s great to have the opportunity to talk at the Marketing 2020 event this year. Understanding the role of digital is vital in today’s marketing landscape and I hope to use my experience to inspire marketers, students and business people at the event with some interesting case studies and examples of how we can effectively use digital channels.

“Digital marketing is often talked about but sometimes not fully understood and can often be full of conflicting messages and untested methods so making sense of it can be a minefield.”

Registration for this free event will take place at 5.30pm in the Atrium, for a 6.15pm start in OL2 lecture theatre. After the main session, there will be the opportunity to ask the speakers any questions and for further networking.
