About

I am a Chartered Manager and lead the BA Hons Sport Management programme.

I am also partnership lead for the FdSc Sport, Fitness, Wellbeing and BSc Hons Sport, Fitness, Wellbeing programmes that are delivered at our collaborative partner Boston College. 

I am one of the founding members of Sport and Exercise at the University and have been the Quality Assurance Lead for the discipline area during this time.  

Teaching responsibilities

I lead and teach on the following modules that form part of the BA Hons Sport Management programme:

• 4SO503 Introduction to Sport Management
• 5SO524 Advanced Sport Management Practice 1
• 5SO523 Advanced Sport Management Practice 2
• 6SO519 Contemporary Issues in Sport Management and Development

I embed realworld learning opportunities into all of my modules including realworld assessment briefs with Sporting Communities, Pastures Golf Course, Mickleover FC and Derby Rugby Club. 

Professional interests

I am a Chartered Manager awarded by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

I have achieved accreditations for the BA Hons Sport Management programme from the CMI and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). 

The accreditation from the CMI enables students to gain a L5 Diploma in Management and Leadership on completion of their studies.

I am dedicated to supporting students to become the professional managers of the future.  I work with professional bodies and sporting organisations to support this process.

Research interests

I am interested in all aspects of experiential learning, its integration into the curriculum and how this supports graduate level employment opportunities.

Experience in industry

I lead the experiential learning model with Derby County Football Club that forms part of the BA Hons Sport Management programme.  The model sees students gain experiential learning opportunities in the commercial, marketing, community and ticketing areas of the club.
