We are delighted that you are considering joining our diverse and vibrant international community. Your unique perspective enriches our university and contributes greatly to our global outlook, both in the classroom and across the campus.
If you hold immigration status, whether on a Student visa, Family permit, or another eligible visa, you must complete an in-person Right to Study check before you can begin studying at the University. This is a requirement for all students studying in the UK.
This is Step 5 in our 8-step enrolment guide. You must complete Steps 1 to 4 first, and if you haven't completed those steps then please review the full enrolment guide and follow each step.

Once you have completed Steps 1 to 4, follow the instructions below to complete your Right to Study check and confirm your enrolment for the academic year. Please complete all steps as advised will help you avoid potential delays, deferrals, or withdrawal of your visa.
Documents required to complete the Right to Study checks for students on a student visa
We are required to conduct relevant Right to Study checks for all new or returning students who are currently on a Student Visa. In order to conduct the Right to Study checks, we will request you to provide your Share code, Passport and Stamped Vignette if you have one or a Flight ticket to confirm your arrival in the UK and enable us to enrol and officially register you as a student for the current academic year.
We will take copies of the following documents:
- Share Code obtained online before or after arrival in the UK. You need to visit the UK government website to generate the share code and ensure you choose the ‘something else’ option on the government website.
- Passport information page
- Stamped Vignette on your passport given by UKVI that shows the current date of entry into the UK or a Flight ticket if no vignette has been stamped or provided.
- Any previous vignettes on your passport given by UKVI that allowed you to enter the UK
Please ensure you provide all the documents listed above to avoid delay in the confirmation of your enrolment. If you are a new student, you must ensure that you provide your documents and additional information about your arrival on CAS Shield to allow us to support you and ensure that everything is going smoothly for you prior to your arrival and during your programme induction to avoid delay in enrolment.
You can find out about eVisas and creating your account on the UKVI's eVisa webpage. You can create your eVisa account by visiting Get access to your eVisa.
