Thank you for your interest to become a DerbyUni Vlogger
This project is about giving students who are thinking about studying at the University of Derby a taste for life here.
There are many ways we can do that. We can produce glossy brochures and a slick website (those things are important) but what really shows off what’s great about the University is you, our students!
So, we want to show the University from your perspective.
We would like you to produce a video for us.
Before you panic, don’t worry if you’ve never produced a video before. For us, that isn’t important. What’s important is that you enjoy studying here and that you’re up for sharing that with future students.
You don’t need a fancy camera or months of experience in video production and editing – we are here to help with all of that. All you need to do is the fun part – the filming.
What are these vlogs about?
We will provide you with a brief around a topic and all that we ask is that you supply us with up to 5 minutes’ worth of footage, so not loads. We’ll take your clips and edit them into a video.
Some examples of the vlog topics are: accommodation, student life, campus and facilities, the location of the city/town, being involved in a project through your course, how your tutor has supported you to gain new skills.
Hints and tips
We’ve got hints and tips to share with you and things to think about when filming, we’ll give you a deadline that isn’t too strict and all you do then is upload your footage to our posh vlog platform – and we do the rest.
What's in it for you?
It’s a great opportunity to share your story, try something new if you have never filmed before, or add some work experience to your CV. You are also supporting the University’s marketing content which in turn helps other students when they decide where to study.
If we like what we see and use your video we’ll also give you a £30 voucher, there could be an opportunity to produce more vlogs on a more regular basis working closely with the marketing team (we’ll pay you for those too!).
We are hosting an event on Wednesday 25 April at Kedleston Road from 1.30-3pm and Thursday 26 April at Buxton from 12-1.30pm (Rooms to be confirmed upon registration) to give you all the details you need and share briefs with you on each topic area – and of course we will answer any questions you have too.
All you need to do is register and we will be in touch with details for the event. We look forward to meeting you.
Book your place
P.S If you can't make one of the events don't worry, you can still take part. Email email@example.com to let us know.
