Tamzin's story video transcript

I really liked Derby because as soon as I came here I felt really welcome, I felt like everybody wanted me here and I felt like I was part of a community from the moment I stepped foot in the door. Everybody was really supportive and encouraging and friendly. I have suffered quite a lot with anxiety in the past and I was scared about living somewhere different and having to make new friends and just having a complete change. But coming here and being made so welcome by everybody has really allowed me to settle into uni life and find my flow and feel content here.

Being a student here has really allowed me to grow as a person and has really allowed me to explore different avenues for the future and realise what I would like to do. I really wasn't sure how I was going to transition back into education because I'd been working full-time before I came to university, I had done an apprenticeship, so I was worried about coming back into education and how I would achieve grades. So I was pleasantly surprised when I came out with multiple firsts. As soon as I got here I just settled in straight away and felt really happy and content.
