0:00 Hello, my name is Karen Newberry and I'm a Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy. I've been at the
0:05 University for 19 years and have been involved with the admissions process for a number of
0:10 years. A large number of programmes in healthcare include an interview as part of the admissions
0:15 process and that includes Occupational Therapy. This video will provide you with some information
0:20 to help you prepare should you be invited to attend an interview. We now run virtual
0:26 interviews and hope that these hints and tips will help you with your interview. Firstly, relax.
0:33 Second, make sure you have a drink. A glass of water is always good to have by your side.
0:39 Third, dress smart. Dress how you would if we were meeting you in person.
0:44 Fourth, have fun! We want to see your personality shine through during your interview.
0:50 Interviews take place through Microsoft Teams so when your interview slot comes through make sure you accept
0:56 the invitation, download the software and try to log in. You will need to remember your username
1:03 and password so make sure you note it down somewhere safe so you have it ready for your
1:08 all-important interview day. On the day of your interview log in at least 10 minutes before, just
1:15 to make sure you don't have any technical issues. Then take a deep breath before it all begins.
1:21Teams is really easy to use. The interviewer will call you at your allotted time and you just need
1:27 to make sure when you answer that your mic and camera are both on. We want to see your friendly
1:33 faces! There are many ways to ace your interviews. Make sure you know why you want to do your course
1:39 and what makes you so passionate about it. We will ask you various questions but there'll be a focus
1:45 on the six Cs: caring, compassion, communication, competence, courage, and lastly commitment. We will
1:56 look at your current skills and any relevant experience and your attitude. Come in with a
2:02 positive, confident, can-do attitude, and tell us why you want to make a difference in people's lives.
