Course description

Highly practical and designed in partnership with industry, our FdEng Motorsport Engineering leads to a nationally recognised qualification and equips you with skills which are invaluable in this fast-moving industry.

Academically challenging and vocationally relevant, our FdEng encompasses all the skills you need to gain employment and pursue a career at the forefront of the modern motorsport industry.

Professional credibility

We have designed this course in association with motorsport engineering specialists, so you will develop the latest techniques in production, motorsport engineering and materials technology and management.

The course is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and The Engineering Council as partially meeting the requirements for you to achieve Incorporated Engineer status, raising your professional profile.

Exciting learning experiences

You will be based at our Markeaton Street site, where you will find everything you need in our workshops, including plenty of tools and equipment such as a rolling road dynamometer and engine test facilities.

There are opportunities for you to get involved in fascinating projects like Formula Student, the world's biggest motorsport competition. As a result of our success in winning the Rookie Team Award in 2015, the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) awarded a £3,000 grant to our Formula Student Team.

If you would like to gain a full honours degree in this subject, we also offer a BEng (Hons) Motorsport Engineering.
