HND Business and Management is up to date and vocationally relevant – reflecting the complex and challenging nature of the contemporary business environment.

Flexible and convenient

The part-time route to the HND is aimed at professionals in full-time employment who want to progress their careers to higher levels. It is specially designed so that you can complete the qualification over three years while continuing in your job.

The course has proved particularly popular with individuals who have business experience but few relevant formal qualifications, or who have a HNC and want to convert it to a HND. Our approach is highly vocational, and assessment based entirely on coursework.

Skills for success

This HND is all about helping you to take your business acumen and management abilities to the next level. You’ll also improve your skills in decision-making, problem-solving, innovative thinking, analysis and leadership.

While we equip you with a broad foundation of business and management knowledge, you also have the chance to specialise at stage two of the course. Our options in Enterprise, Logistics, Marketing, HRM, Economics and Finance help you focus on your professional interests and link your studies directly to your role at work.

Boost your professional credibility

HND Business and Management has the added advantage of being accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the chartered professional body dedicated to promoting management and leadership excellence.

As part of your studies, you will also take the CMI Level 5 Qualification in Management and Leadership. This will help set you apart if you aspire to higher management positions. It is also the benchmark qualification for full CMI membership, taking you a step towards becoming a Chartered Manager – the highest status that can be achieved in the management profession.

Apply your learning in the workplace

We focus on real-world case studies throughout the course and many of your assignments will be on your own job role. Our Business and Management in Practice modules, for instance, enable you to explore challenges which are directly relevant to your workplace.

You can tackle problems from new perspectives and deliver solutions which have a genuine impact – benefiting your organisation and raising your profile as a forward-thinking manager.

Broaden your networks

We’re networked into a dynamic business community and our strong links with employers span the spectrum from SMEs to major multinational firms. You’ll have the chance to hear from influential business leaders and entrepreneurs via our regular guest lectures and conferences. We have a thriving Network of Entrepreneurs, so innovative thinkers will share their experiences with you.

Other highlights of the calendar include our annual Logistics Week, which brings together some of the giants from the sector to showcase latest developments and technologies.

An expert team to guide you

We’re dedicated to your success.  Our academic team is made up of experts in all aspects of business – from finance to digital marketing – who will support you to fulfil your potential and broaden your business outlook. We pride ourselves on education with the personal touch: you’ll learn in a stimulating and friendly environment.

Careers

Gaining the HND helps to raise your professional profile and enhances your promotion prospects within your organisation. It could also lead to new career opportunities as you will gain an added advantage in a competitive job market. Our graduates already work in a wide variety of occupations across the Midlands. The HND makes the students more mobile and are often promoted before they finish the programme.

The course gives you an in-depth understanding of the evolving concepts, theories and techniques in business and management – and, most importantly, how they can be applied successfully to the business situations you encounter every day at work.

At the same time, it develops your self-confidence, leadership abilities and the personal skills which will serve you well in any job role, such as being able to organise and prioritise your workload.

You could also choose to continue your studies and ‘top up’ your qualification to a full BA (Hons) Business Management (Top up) degree. Or a more specialist degree in subjects such as, International Business and Finance, Business and Finance, Logistics or a variety of Joint Honours degrees. However these degrees are full-time courses only.
