There will be a brief presentation about the programme, and then a range of activities, one being a skills audit to see how these can be applied to your study and practice, and one which highlights the role of our programmes in championing anti-oppressive practice.

 

Take part in an interactive subject taster which will give you a more in-depth understanding of your course, and the chance to experience the academic content and teaching style we offer at Derby. Session will include a mini progress group and counselling skills demonstration.

"Would you have caught Harry in the Traitors? How can you detect lies and deceit?". We will do some exercises on how to detect lies (and you will find out that nothing really works), address some common misconceptions about lying, and use the polygraph. We will discuss the use of polygraphs in the criminal justice system.

There will be a short talk about the course, you'll be able to meet the team and then you'll be able to get involved in a birth simulation using our prompt models.

Nursing students will gain vital skills using our specialist equipment. Come and meet the team and have a go at some of our activities. Depending on your area of study you could learn about the initial elements of Nursing in the community. You could see the variety of high definition simulations available on our sim babies that we run as part of the curriculum, for example you could see one of our sim baby's go blue and learn how this would be utilised in a respiratory simulation. In addition you could take part in an activity around samples.
