New UCAS Tariff - Applying - University of Derby

New UCAS Tariff

Find out how the new UCAS Tariff points system will work

We will be using the new UCAS Tariff points system for our courses starting from September 2017.

The new UCAS Tariff points apply to learners who are thinking about applying to start university from September 2017.

The key changes

  • The new UCAS Tariff points are based on a different methodology to the pre-September 2017 Tariff
  • All qualifications that are currently on the UCAS Tariff will continue to attract points under the new system
  • The AS has been repositioned as 40% of an A level in light of the qualification regulators' statements regarding the standard of the AS.

What the new points mean to you

New UCAS Tariff points should not have any impact on your decisions about qualification choices at school or college, or your preparation for higher education. The change to new UCAS Tariff points will not in itself change our entry requirements to the University of Derby.

For entry from 2017 onwards, our courses will display the entry requirements using the new points system on the course pages of our website.

Tools to help you

You can use the UCAS points calculator to check how many points your qualifications are worth.

If you have specific queries about entry requirements for your chosen course, please contact our Admissions Team on 01332 591167 or email
