Communication, Culture and Legal Studies Research Centre

The Centre’s eclectic, cutting edge research covers a wide range of topics.

This includes:

  • Slavery: we commit to reducing modern slavery by ensuring law enforcement officers and others have the skills and knowledge to identify and combat this crime
  • Modern history: our researchers examine topics from urban and green spaces, to conflict and peacebuilding in the Balkans, Marxism and contemporary music
  • Criminology: our criminologists work across the life-course, looking at psychopathy, financial crime, domestic violence, probation, prison, police leadership and governance and interviewing victims, witnesses and suspects.Sociology: we are passionate about terrorism and radicalisation
  • Legal: we examine medical legal matters concerning pre-implementation genetic diagnosis and saviour siblings as well as human rights.
