Ways to study

Part-time study is designed to be flexible and at the University of Derby we understand the importance of studying in a way that suits you and offer a range of study options to suit your needs.

Campus-based courses

With this study route, most of your learning will take place at one of our campuses (Derby, Buxton or Chesterfield – depending on the course), and may encompass a combination of lectures, seminars, group discussions and projects. The use of technology and media enables us to provide you with the latest learning resources available.

Online courses

The University of Derby Online Learning is a leading UK provider of online distance learning courses. Established in 2001, we have a wealth of experience in offering flexible study options. Our online courses are based around trimesters with assessment deadlines, but have no fixed lectures or travel required, making it easier to fit studying around your other commitments. You’ll engage with tutors and fellow students via various online methods including discussion boards, forums, wikis, blogs, Skype and online live teaching sessions. Your personal online learner adviser will also be on hand to provide you with additional support and guidance too.
