About

I am a Senior Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education (HE). I teach on the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education, Academic Professional Apprenticeship and BA (Honours) English programme. I facilitate workshops for academic staff and contribute to the university's personal tutoring provision.

My doctoral research is focused on academic and pastoral support of students informed by critical pedagogy. As an author of several publications on personal tutoring, including being co-author of the highly regarded Effective Personal Tutoring in Higher Education (2018), I am at the forefront of research and development in this field. I am Vice-Chair for the UK Advising and Tutoring Association (UKAT), the sectoral voice and leading association for personal tutors and academic advisors.  I have been a keynote and invited speaker at several national and international conferences.
