About

I am a Programme Leader and Lecturer at the University of Derby, School of Computing, College of Science and Engineering. My role focuses on the design and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Emerging Technologies. I bring cross-cultural academic and corporate experience from Pakistan, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom, with a strong focus on transformative digital education and applied research.

I hold a PhD in Informatics from the Malaysia University of Science and Technology and a Master’s in IT Management from the University of Sunderland, UK. I am also an approved PhD supervisor in Engineering and Technology and have delivered a range of industry-focused training programmes for both national and multinational clients. My academic and research interests centre on AI-driven solutions for healthcare, education, and intelligent systems.

I am an active member of Data Science Research Centre. 

Teaching responsibilities

I am currently teaching the Scripting and Web Technologies, IT Product Design, and IT Services and Applications modules. I am also supervising final year projects at bachelor’s level and MSc dissertations.

Professional interests

My interests are in developing impactful research to solve real-life problems using  Artificial Intelligence, Human Computer Interaction, and Immersive Technologies. Domains of interest include e-commerce and targeted marketing, health informatics with special emphasis on the classification of medical imaging and Natural language processing.
