About

I am Professor of Nursing in the Centre for Health and Social Care Research. This means I work across the College of Health and Social Care to support colleagues to develop research activities towards REF 20/21, research in health and social care, and research to underpin learning and teaching.

An integral part of my role is to develop research strategy and research capability in health and social care, in line with the University's strategic objectives and research agenda.

As a nurse and midwife by professional background I supervise doctoral students specifically in these areas, but also in areas related to health and social care.

My own research focuses on volunteerism and volunteering, critical pedagogy in nurse education, and critical research in health and social care.

Teaching responsibilities

I supervise doctoral students in the areas of nursing, midwifery and health and social care related topics.

Professional interests

I am interested in all aspects of health and social care, particularly in relation to policy on nursing and nurse education.

Research interests

My research interests include volunteerism and volunteering in health and social care, critical pedagogy in nurse education, and health and social care related topics.

I am registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
