About

I am a Lecturer in Criminal and Corporate Investigations within the College of Business, Law and Social Sciences.

I work with colleagues from the areas of Law, Criminology, Policing and Investigations and teach on the Criminology and Investigations degree and Masters course.

Teaching responsibilities

I teach across several subject areas including Criminology, Investigations and Policing.

Research interests

Having joined the University from the private sector, I have an interest in all aspects of business and enterprise risk managment. I am particularly interested in business crime affecting the omni channel retailer.

Membership of professional bodies

CSyP - Chartered Security Professional - I was the first serving Police Officer worldwide to acheive Chartered Security Professional status.

FSyI - Fellow of the Security Institute

Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals

Qualifications

MSc Security and Risk Management, University of Leicester

Experience in industry

I recently joined the University from Next PLC where I was Head of Retail Loss Prevention.

I sit on the selection panel for the Register of Chartered Security Professionals and regularly interview prospective candidates seeking admission to the Register.

International experience

Prior to joining Next PLC, I represented the National Police Chiefs Councils, formerly ACPO, with bodies including the UN and NATO.

Whilst with Next I had responsibility for the Retail Loss Prevention aspects of the business in the 90+ countries that Next trade in. This included risk assessing the travel and security planning of staff visiting the various countries where Next source and sell products.

Additional interests and activities

As a Private Pilot I have a particular interest in the threat posed by private light aviation.

I was awarded an OBE in the 2015 Birthday Honours for services to Policing and Business Security.
