About

I am Programme Leader of the BA (Hons) Business Studies programme, which means that I am responsible for the success and progression of students on the progamme, including giving academic advice and pastoral support.   I am responsible for recruitment, retention and student satisfaction on the programme.

I am also a Senior Lecturer, with teaching responsibilities across Derby Business School.

Teaching responsibilities

I am a Module Leader, for Research Methods for Business, International Business Economics and Strategy and Global Business and Strategy (Strategy), The Business Consultancy Project, and The Business Research Project.

Professional interests

I have sixteen years of experience in management, in a variety of private and public sector organisations. I am also an experienced trainer and consultant, able to work with organisations to effectively identify gaps in policy, processes and planning and offer workable solutions to make improvements, as well as recommending and carrying out appropriate staff training and development activities.

Prior to working for Derby Business School, I was the Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Events Management programme at the University of Derby, Buxton, combining my management experience with my events management experience at various organisations.

Research interests

My viva for the submitted PhD: 'Three Discussions on Management: Learning, Co-Dependency, and Thinking/Doing: An Investigation into the Concept of Management through a Hospitality Management Lens' will take place in September 2018.  My research interests are around a deeper understanding of the philosopy of management and the similarities and differences of its practice across different sectors.  Other research interests include business ethics in turbulent times.
