Dr Nana Dwomoh Osei Bempah

About

Nana Bempah is a Senior lecturer in Accounting at the University of Derby, UK. She has previously worked at University of Southampton and Coventry University in various capacities, including Lecturer in Accounting and finance.

Before moving to academia, she worked at Barclays Bank Ltd, UK. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), with extensive experience in teaching both basic education and in higher education level.

Her research expertise and interests are in accounting and corporate governance with a particular focus on corporate governance, business ethics and sustainability. She has published in leading peer-reviewed international journals including Business Strategy and Environment, Journal of Small Business & Entrepreneurship, and Cogent Business & Management. She has supervised a number of Ph.D, undergraduate and post graduate theses over the years.

Teaching responsibilities

Module leader for four modules: Introduction to financial account, Financial reporting, Financial statement analysis, and Strategic and financial performance management.
Provide teaching support for Strategy, Finance and Business Transformation and Financial strategy modules.
Theses and dissertation supervisor at Ph.D., postgraduate and undergraduate levels.

Professional interests

My professional interests include accounting education and pedagogy, and corporate governance and sustainability research. I am particularly interested in applying innovative teaching approaches and emerging technologies to enhance student learning and prepare graduates for the evolving accounting profession.

My research expertise and interests are in accounting and corporate governance with a particular focus on corporate governance, business ethics and sustainability.
