About

I am the Professional Programmes Lead. This means I oversee Professional programmes such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Chartered Institute of Procurement Supply (CIPS).  I joined the University in 2016 and was responsible for re-launching the ACCA provision.

I am a qualified accountant and started working in practice in 1979 and started my own practice in 1996 and have recently retired as an auditor. I have been teaching for over 22 years.

I currently teach on the ACCA programme and have delivered on the following subjects:

Professional interests

Until recently I was on ACCA Audit and Assurance Global Forum formerly the Audit technical committee which was responsible for feeding back to the International Auditing Standard setters.

I am also a former chair of the Leicestershire Distrcit Society of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT)

Qualifications

Experience in industry

Between 1979 and 1996 I worked at various accountancy practices in Leicester such as Chantry Vellacott, Robson Rhodes and MacIntyre Hudson. I gained experience in Auditng, Preparation of Accounts, Taxation and advising clients on all financial matters.

In 1996 I started my own practice providing accountancy, tax and auditing services to clients.

International experience

I have been delivering ACCA revision classes in Jamaica since 2003 and in Trinidad between 2003-2005.

At my former University I was on the faculty international committee and was the India country champion between 2005 and 2009 and was responsible for attending British Council Fairs in India, establishing relationships with agents and interviewing prospective students and making offers to students.

I assisted several organisations in India in developing their ACCA provision between 2010 and 2013.

I have also conducted CPD events on International Financial Reporting Standards(IFRS), International Auditing Standards(ISA) and Forensic Accounting in the following countries between 2007 and 2019: Belize, Barbados, Bahamas, Antigua, Jamaica, St Lucia, St Vincent, St Kitts, Grenada, Guyana, Suriname, and Trinidad.

I am an external examiner for BSc and BA in Accounting at University of Technology in Kingston Jamaica (2015-2019)

I have conducted tutor training events in Jamaica and Trinidad for ACCA Caribbean Office as well as conducting student intervention events in those countries.

In the media

I won the PQ Magazine Public Sector Lecturer of the Year in 2017 award after being nominated by the ACCA students at the University.
