About

I am a Registered General Nurse, Head of Adult Nursing, Senior Fellow of the HEA. My specific area of interest is palliative and end of life care and support for informal carers of patients with life limiting illness. I have a number of journal publications and two books published, Brown, M (2016) Palliative Care for Nursing and Healthcare. Whitehead, W & Brown, M (2017) Transition to Nursing: Preparation for Practice.

Teaching responsibilities

BSc Adult Nursing Programme, MSc adult nursing programme, post graduate palliative care.

Professional interests

Palliative and end of life care, Informal carers for those with life limiting illness, survivorship, transition to registration for qualified nurses.

I practiced as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in palliative care and prior to this as a Uro-oncology clinical nurse specialist. I am currently a partner Governor at Chesterfield Royal Hospital Trust
