About

I am currently a Senior Lecturer in Sport Therapy and Rehabilitation, having also previously worked as a Senior Lecturer in Strength and Conditioning. I have experience working as both a Sports Therapist and Strength and Conditioning Coach within football and with Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service.

I am currently undertaking a PhD in neuromuscular physiology, specifically looking at the force-velocity-power relationship and its applications to training. Other areas of interest include post-activation potentiation enhancement and blood flow restriction training.

Teaching responsibilities

I currently teach a range of modules across the Sport Therapy and Rehabilitation programme at the University of Derby.

Research interests

I am interested in all aspects of physical performance enhancement, specifically the acute effects of potentiating warmups. I also have a particular interest in the force-velocity-power relationship and how this may be monitored and manipulated for acute and chronic performance adaptations.

Experience in industry

I have worked as an exercise professional within a local authority setting, taking referrals from health care professionals to increase the physical activity levels of patients with acute and chronic health conditions as part of an exercise referral scheme, including cardiac rehabilitation.

I have worked within academy level and women’s football as a Sports Therapist and Strength and Conditioning Coach, and with Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service delivering strength and conditioning and injury rehabilitation services.
