About

Dr Kapila Liyanage is a Senior Lecturer in Engineering Management at the College of Engineering and Technology. He is the programme leader for MSc Strategic Engineering Management and BEng (Hons) Engineering Management.

Before joining the University of Derby in 2013, he worked at University of Strathclyde, University of the West of Scotland, Warwick Business School and the Open University of Sri Lanka. Throughout his career, Dr Liyanage has received achievement awards for outstanding performance in teaching and doctoral supervision. He holds a PhD in Computer Simulation of Manufacturing Systems from the Sheffield Hallam University (UK) and a BSc (Hons) Special degree in Physics and Industrial Management from the University of Kelaniya (Sri Lanka). He is also a fellow member of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a member of the Institution of Engineering Technology (MIET). Dr Liyanage has published a number of articles in reputable Journals and international conferences.

His research interests include operations and supply chain management, business improvement, systems modelling & simulation and sustainable operations. He has served as a technical committee member and acted as session chair for several international conferences and also been invited to give Keynote Speech at several international conferences. He also serves as a regular reviewer for two international journals.
