About

I am a legal researcher with a strong academic background in public international law, human rights, and socio-legal studies. I hold a First Class Honours degree in Law from the University of Derby, where I was also awarded the Best Student in Law Prize (2025).

In 2024, I was selected for the University’s competitive Undergraduate Research Scholarship Scheme (URSS), through which I completed an independent research project entitled "From Badges to Bridges: Building Trust and Collaboration between Law Enforcement and Communities in the UK through Legal Reforms and Community Engagement." This experience deepened my interest in empirical and policy-oriented scholarship and in the relationship between legal institutions and public trust.

Thesis title

The impact of political discontent on diplomatic efforts to prevent humanitarian crises: A case study of Sri Lanka.

Professional interests

Alongside my studies, I have been actively involved in student legal clinics and research-based projects, working on matters ranging from immigration and family law to property and commercial disputes. These experiences have reinforced my commitment to combining doctrinal legal analysis with practical problem-solving and community-oriented legal work. I am particularly interested in how legal frameworks affect individuals and marginalised groups in real-world settings, and how law can function both as a tool of protection and, at times, exclusion.

I also serve as an approved tutor with The Brilliant Club, contributing to widening participation in higher education by supporting students from underrepresented backgrounds through university-style academic tutoring.

Research interests

My broader intellectual interests lie in international diplomacy, humanitarian crisis prevention, and the role of non-state actors such as NGOs and civil society organisations in shaping legal and political outcomes. I am especially engaged with questions concerning vulnerable states and post-conflict societies, including the interaction between international legal norms, domestic governance, and social reconciliation.

Qualifications

Additional interests and activities

Beyond academia, I participate in community initiatives focused on legal awareness and social empowerment, and I maintain a strong interest in creative work, particularly music composition and digital media, which I view as complementary forms of expression and communication. I aspire to pursue an academic career in international law, with the long-term goal of contributing to teaching, research, and policy-relevant scholarship that bridges theory and practice.
