About

I am Assistant Head of Discipline of Occupational Therapy, Prosthetics and Orthotics and Hand Therapy Practice and a member of the teaching team in the Occupational Therapy subject area with involvement in both the pre-registration and post registration programmes. 

Teaching responsibilities

I teach on both pre-registration programmes. 

Professional interests

Occupational Science, Occupation for Health and Wellbeing, Public Health and social determinants of health, practice placement.

Research interests

Using mobile devices in practice settings to improve the employability of occupational therapy and physiotherapy students. I am a member of the project team for a Higher Education Academy (HEA) collaborative project with Coventry University.

An evaluation to identify the potential overall value of routine placement visiting from the practice placement educator’s perspective (2011).

An evaluation of the use of an online discussion group with Occupational Therapy students on Practice Placement. Completed October 2004.

An Investigation to Identify Reasons for Non-Completion of Fieldwork Educators Accreditation and Strategies to Support Fieldwork Educators in the Provision of Fieldwork Placements. Completed December 2003.

Membership of professional bodies

I am a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists/Royal College of Occupational Therapists (BAOT/RCOT). I have previously served as a member of the BAOT/RCOT council and chaired the learning and development board and was Vice-Chair of Council, and I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HPC).
