About

I am a senior lecturer in Criminology, first year tutor for the BSc in Criminology and programme lead for the MSc in Criminal Justice and Criminology. My teaching and research interests are focused upon imprisonment, penology, punishment and rehabilitation.  

Teaching responsibilities

I am responsible for the module leadership of both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in criminology and criminal justice. These include Offending and Offenders, Real World Criminology and Criminal Justice: Theory and Practice.   

Research interests

I have conducted research and evaluation projects for the Home Office, the Youth Justice Board and the Ministry of Justice. Specific areas of interest include imprisonment, penology, punishment and rehabilitation. I have an particular interest in trauma informed interventions in custodial settings

Qualifications

Experience in industry

I have worked as a criminologost, researcher and practitioner in the field of criminal justice for over twenty-five years. Most recently I was employed as an inspector for Her Majesty's Inspectorate of prisons completing inspections of prisons, immigration removal centres, police custody suites and young offender institutions.
