About

Hi, I am a registered children's nurse, currently working as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse - Health Visitor, 3 days a week in addition to my teaching role here within the University of Derby. I qualified as a Paediatric nurse back in 2004 and started work at the then City Hospital after accepting a rotational post working on a children's renal ward, burns and plastics and paediatric high dependency unit. before taking a permanent position on the high dependency unit at City.

From here I then spent 3 years working with in the Children's Emergency Department  before taking a Jr Charge Nurse position on the Children's renal ward where I spent 6 months on rotation. I enjoyed my time working in the renal unit caring for children and families with renal complications and driving forward change in this highly specialised care setting one of only 12 within the United Kingdom.

In 2012 I changed roles and completed the Specialist Community Public Health Degree and started my career as a Health Visitor within an inner city area, I have continued to practice as a Health Visitor and combine this with my current role at the university.
