I am Professor of Cyber Security and Head of Cyber Security Research Group (CSRG) in Computer Science Department. My main academic activities are focused on undertaking research and teaching in Cyber Security, coordinating research activities in CSRG, supporting and mentoring students and early career academics and transferring academic knowledge to business.

I am a member of University Professorial Council and the chair of College Research Ethics Committee. With these roles, I am contributing to developing college and university wise strategies for creating a healthy academic environment for our students, researchers, academic and admin staff.  

I have authored and co-authored more than 130 publications, have served as a programme and technical committee member in numerous conference, have organised several conferences, special sessions in conferences and have served as member of editorial board and guest editor in several journals.

I have been principal or so-principal investigator in various projects funded by EPSRC, RAEng, Leverhulme Trust, Action Medical Research and KTP scheme.

I held Industrial Fellowship, which was awarded by Royal Academy of Engineering. I was awarded as 2nd place in in World Wide Steganalysis Contest (BOSS) as well as I obtained “Successful Projects of the Year 1998 Award” in Marmara Research Centre. 

Teaching responsibilities

I am the module leader of Communication and Security Protocol, which is about what security protocols are used in the Internet and how they can help us to secure the Internet.

I am also the module leader and coordinator of Independent Scholarship, that is a MSc research dissertation module.

Research interests

My current research interest is centred around AI based Security Analytics leading to several contributions for Multimedia Security, Security and Privacy in Internet-of-Things, Cloud Security, Imaging for Forensics and Security, Security related Multimedia Content Analysis and Big Data in Cyber Security.
