I am a post-doctoral research fellow at the Centre for Educational Research and Innovation (CERI) in the University of Derby. I gained a doctorate at UCL, Institute of Education, in 2017. In my Ph.D. thesis I investigated the influence of school ethos on the sense of school belonging and social relations of secondary students focusing on the voices of young adolescents with special educational needs and disability (SEND); the title is: “Does a school with an inclusive ethos enhance the sense of school belonging and encourage the social relations of young adolescents with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties?”.

Research interests

My academic interests are in the area of inclusion, inclusive practices and the voices of children and young people with SEND.
