About

I am a Senior Lecturer in Accounting, Sustainability, Governance, and Audit. I am a member of the Accounting Research Group, The Accounting, Accountability and ethics (AAEG) group within the Centre for Business Improvement at Derby Business School. I have practical experience as an account officer in a manufacturing company in Ghana. Before joining the University of Derby, I have worked as a senior lecturer and lecturer at the School of Business, University of Cape Coast, Ghana, and Leeds Beckett University respectively for over 13 years.

I have authored, co-authored, edited, and peer-reviewed many publications, and my research interests lie mainly in Sustainability reporting, CSR, and accounting research in general. I am also an author of four module textbooks and two research books. I joined the University of Derby in 2019 from the University of Cape Coast. I will be available and glad to accept any supervision of PhD students in the above area of specialisation.

Teaching responsibilities

I am currently supervising four doctoral students at various levels of completion of which three students are from my formal University. I have also supervised many MPhil students to completion. My research expertise and interest include sustainability reporting, CSR, adoption of IFRS corporate governance, auditing, and ethical issues in accounting and mergers and acquisitions.

I have taught many modules in Accounting and Finance both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. These include Advanced Audit and Assurance, Public Sector Accounting, International Finance, Financial Reporting, Cost Accounting, International Business, and International Marketing. Currently, at the University of Derby, I am teaching Corporate reporting, Mergers and Acquisition, Financial and Strategic Performance Management (Level 7) and Sustainability, Governance and Audit, Financial Reporting (ACCA).

Research interests

I am passionate about research with prolific research outcomes. I have been published in nationally and internationally journals including International Journal of Accounting, Corporate Governance: The International Journal of Business in Society, The Chinese Economy, Research in International Business etc. His multidisciplinary research areas span Financial Reporting, IFRS, Sustainability and Environmental Reporting, CSR, Corporate Governance using diversified research methods (quantitative, and case studies). He acts as a reviewer for some peer-refereed journals.
